Some foods are better for your health and some are worse, but here are 10 recommended super foods you should definitely include in your eating plan.
One of the best sources of good fats (monosaturated fat) is olive oil. And yes, there is such a thing as good fats. Our body needs fat to function properly but it has to be the right kind of fat. Check out my page on Nurition Myths to learn more about it.
Olive oil is also rich in antioxidants which are excellent for combating the effects of aging.
Olive oil should be consumed in moderation. No more than a spoon a day should be enough as it is rich in calories. However, it is an excellent super food.
Nuts, flax seeds, almonds, and so on
All of these are rich in antioxidants, healthy fatty acids, as well as various vitamins and mineral such as potasium, zinc, phosporous and so on. I happen to love nuts and seeds because they make a great addition to almost any dish you prepare.
The downside is that these items are rich in calories and fat so eat them in moderation. The key is to nourish your body to lose stomach fat not to gain fat.
This fish, apart from being extremely tasty, is an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Both of these ingredients are excellent for anyone who leads an active life and workouts regularly as protein builds muscle tissue and Omega-3 acids help the recovery process.
This energy bomb has gotten a bad rap over the year as being fattening when it isn’t. It may be higher in calories than other fruits but you don’t see tennis players eat bananas during matches for no reason. This fruit is an excellent source of usable energy and can make any workout that much more powerful.
The British didn’t have the biggest empire in modern times for nothing. Tea, especially the green variety, is rich in antioxidants called catechins which not only delay the aging process but have been shown to protect against various heart diseases and other ailments. I drink 1 cup of green tea each day. I use honey as sweetener, never sugar.
Berries are one of my favorite fruits and an excellent snack. Blueberries and cranberries are rich in antioxidants, low in calories, and can add a natural sweetness to any dish. I love eating them with Yogurt and branflakes.
If you’re looking for something to replace your chocolate bars, or just need something sweet which won’t ruin you efforts to get a flat tummy, berries are the solution. One of the best is the exotic Goji Berry
Eggs are an excellent source of lean protein. They’re simply loaded with it. Eggs are also a high satiety food, meaning that they tend to fill you up so they’re an excellent item for any fat loss program. Some people avoid the yolk entirely due to cholesterol concerns but it actually has many beneficial ingredients. Overall, eggs are an important, cheap, and highly nutritious food.
Brocolli is a rich source of folate acid which helps to prevent heart disease. It contains vitamin C and a good deal of antioxidants. Brocolli is also considered an excellent anti-cancerous vegetable.
Low Fat Yogurt
Yogurt is a great source of calcium which strengthens the bones, potassium, and protein. I like yogurt because you can just eat anything with it. You can add nuts, berries, branflakes, and basically create a healthy, tasty, and nutritious meal in no-time.
Make sure to eat low fat yogurt without any flavoring or artificial additives. They just ruin everything good about yogurt and it’s a shame.
Whole Grain Food
Whole grain is an excellent high satiety food (fills you up for a long time) contains a lot of nutritious fibre and is rich in protein and minerals. Whole grain foods include, whole breads, cereals, oatmeal, and so on. I usually have a good dose of whole grain foods for breakfast as I feel they keep me energized throughout the day.
Make these 10 super foods a regular part of your diet. They will help you to feel energized, strong, and will also assist in the fat burning process.
