Discover If Diet Soda is Bad For Your Health
When we think about our nutrition, we mostly consider what we eat and pay little attention to what we drink.
This isn't wise because it's possible to consume a lot of calories through our beverages. In fact, by switching
more calorie rich drinks for less calorie rich ones, the average person can cut hundreds of calories each and every
day.
In addition, some drinks may harbor additional health risks and not just contribute to weight gain. In fact,
some diet drinks may cause more harm than good even if they're reduced in calories.
On this article I wish to discuss whether diet soda is bad for you. I know that you may have made the transition
from regular soda to diet in order to cut down on the calories and I applaud your decision.
However, I urge you to read this article all the way through because diet sodas aren't necessarily healthy
for you in the short and long run. And I'm not just talking about your weight or belly
fat
In short, is diet soda bad for you? The answer is YES!
Here are some reasons:
1. Diet soda can be bad for your teeth. Most sodas are very acidic and so may cause cavities.
2. Diet sodas can lead to weight gain. Even though these drinks have fewer calories than regular sodas, they
might still be calorie rich and cause you to gain more pounds.
3. Diet sodas can increase cravings for more fattening and sweet food. I don't know why that is, but diet
sodas are usually accompanied by eating something as well, which is more calories for you.
4. You are what you drink - There's only so much you can drink in a day. Either you drink healthy beverages
like water, green tea, freshly squeezed juices, or you drink unhealthy ones. By drinking soda, you're depriving
yourself of the really good drinks you can have instead.
5. Aspartame, the sweetener which is often used in diet sodas has been linked in some animal studies
to all sorts of tumors. The FDA has approved it for use but I feel that further research is needed to make sure
that this sweetener doesn't have any nasty side effects.
All in all, diet soda may do you harm and it's not doing you any good, so why take the chance on it?
I'm not saying cut it out completely, but do limit yourself to a healthy dose. It's better to play it safe
