Intensive Cardio Workouts to Lose Stomach Fat

running woman
It is well known that cardio workouts are a great way to burn belly fat. They're not just helpful to get lean but also help you to improve the condition of your entire cardiovascular system and may contribute to a lower blood pressure and other benefits.

However, if your current goal is to get flat abs, then your cardio workouts need to be those that will burn the most fat. After all, we've all seen people in gyms everywhere spend hours and hours doing cardio but they appear to look the same week after week and month after month.

Their heart is in the right place: they're putting in the time and effort. The problem is that they're doing it wrong, or just not as right as they could be.

The main problem which prevents people from getting the best results with their cardiovascular workouts is the "longer is better myth". This is something which a lot of people get wrong. This myth basically says that the longer you do your cardio for the better, and that time is the most important factor in fat burning.

This couldn't be more wrong or self-defeating. Do you really believe that it doesn't matter how your workout is just how long it is?

The real way to burn the most belly fat is by making your body work as much as possible. Sure, time is a factor, but it is a distant second the the intensiveness of your workouts. You can walk for an hour at a leisurely pace but burn less than what another person would in 30 minutes of running.

And this brings us to our first intensive cardio workout for abs: running

Running is my personal favorite cardio workout and it's highly intensive because it works the entire body. Practically every muscle group is brought into play and the effort your body puts into this workout is immense.

Try running at a slight incline to protect your knees and to add to the effort. Also, make sure to change your rythem and work through a whole range of speeds.

Rowing

Another cardiovascular workout I love is rowing. I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to tone their arms and back. Rowing is an excellent combination between an aerobic workout and a strength workout.

Rowing machines can be found at most gyms and I highly recommend incorporating them into your regular workout. You won't need to spend a lot of time to feel the sweat pouring off you.

The elliptical

This is an example of a cardio machine which makes it difficult to do an intensive workout and burn a lot of stomach fat.

The elliptical is a great machine if you have knee problems but it's just not as intensive as other machines. Most people can get to the top resistance levels in a short while and cruise through an hour on this machine at a good pace. This just goes to show how little intensity there is in this machine.

Kickboxing

I haven't done kickboxing myself but it's a great workout because it works the entire body, it can be intensive with the right instructor, and it looks like a lot of fun.

You do need good coordination to do kickboxing but this is something you can develop with time.

Join a class and give yourself some time to get used to it. The first few lessons can be a bit hard.

 Rock climbing

This isn't considered a cardio workout but it does provide an aerobic stimulation and it is very hard to do. The main problem is that to really enjoy this sport you need to be strong. I believe that you can find yourself enjoying this activity if you give yourself time to get over the learning curve.

There are many other intensive cardio workouts you can use to get flat abs. You just need to be true to yourself and make sure to push yourself so that you burn the most fat and get the best results for your time.

Of course, none of these activities will do any good without the right eating routine, so make sure you know how to eat to lose fat as well as how to workout.

In addition, make sure to do a proper warm up before any workout.
