Foods that Boost Your Metabolism
Everyone knows that when it comes to losing body fat to flatten your abs or for any
other purpose, your metabolism plays a key role.
Your metabolic rate determines how fast your body burns calories, whether your working out or resting. The
faster you burn calories, the easier it is for you to get leaner and get flat
abs. Basically, a fast metabolism is like having a furnace inside of you, constantly burning more calories and
fat.
Your metabolism is determined in a great deal by your genetic makeup. However, there are a lot of things you can
do to boost your metabolic rate. One of those things is to make sure you eat the right kind of food.
Some foods increase your metabolic rate. It is these foods
that you should make sure to include, in moderation, in your diet to make sure that you're burning more calories

Foods that Increase Your Metabolism
Metabolism boosting foods are usually made up of items rich in lean protein, fibre, or various elements which
either make the body work faster for a time, or are so hard to digest that they require a lot of energy from the
body to process them.
Many of these foods are also high satiety foods, so they help you remain full for a long time so they also act
as appetite suppressants, which is also beneficial for those wishing to lose weight.
Here are some examples of foods that boost metabolism:
1. Grapefruit - Rich in fibres, grapefruit is requires a long digetive process and burns a lot
of calories in the process. It also decreases insulin levels in your body, which is the hormone responsible for fat
storing.
2. Yogurt - As with any lean protein source, yogurt is a high satiety food and the protein
takes a long time to be processed. Just make sure not to add high sugar cereals or other sugary items to your
yogurt, and you will see great benefits from including it in your diet.
3. Apples - Apples are low in calories and high in fibre so they require a lot of calories to
digest. In addition, apples are rich in vitamins and other beneficial elements for your body.
4. Oatmeal - This food reduces your insuling levels and takes a long time to be digested. In
addition, oatmeal can make you feel full for hours, so it's a great food for those who wish to lose some belly
fat.
5. Green tea - Rich in epigallocatechin gallate, a catechin which speeds up many of your
internal processes and helps burn more calories faster. Green tea is also a great source of antioxidants which are
very healthy.
6. Lean meat - Excellent source of lean protein which takes a long time to break down in
your body. Also, protein helps to build muscle which is one of the main things to boost your metabolic rate. Try to
avoid red meat and pork since they've been associated with various health risks.
7. Beans - Beans have a bad rap and without reason. As long as they're not fried or
baked, beans are an excellent source of protein, iron, and fibre and can help boost your metabolism.
8. Eggs - The premium source of lean protein, eggs are a high satiety food and are also
rich in B-12 vitamin which some claim to be a natural fat burning supplement. For more on this super food read this

Of course, eggs do contain cholesterol, so you may want to separate the yolk (which contains the
cholesterol) from the white (which contains all the protein). I personally make omelettes with 2-3 egg whites
and one yolk. It maintains the taste with a much higher protein to cholesterol ratio.
These foods can help you raise your metabolism. However, their effect is limited. Make sure to workout
regularly to achieve lasting results. Also, don't overeat on any of these foods. Moderation is the key.
