Discover If the Ab Coaster Home Works or Is it a Waste of Money

ab coasterOne of the most heavily advertised pieces of ab workout equipment is the Ab Coaster (which you can see in the picture to the left).

As is often the case with these machines, the Ab Coaster has an excellent infomercial filled with super fit guys and gals. The picture which the infomercial paints is clear: use the Ab Coaster at your home and see your belly fat disappear while toning your abs.

Often, the reality isn’t as great as that exhibited in the infomercials, so I decided to set out and do a little investigating of my own.

I mainly wanted to see whether this machine, is worth the $250 Price Tag.

After all, you could always use another way to workout your abs at home.

I read a lot of reviews from experts and users alike, here is what I found…

Ab Coaster Full Price

The Ab Coaster is sold for:

1. Pay the full price of about $250 and get it shipped to you. Shipping costs are not included.

2. Pay $49.95 for 5 monthly payments plus shipping costs.

However, you should also decide whether to buy some additional items offered to you with your order.

These prices are for the Ab Coaster home version. There is also an ab coaster pro version which is mostly bought by gyms and costs much more. I believe that the home version is the relevant one for personal use.

$250 is a lot of money for 1 abs machine. However, to build great abs it may very well be worth it to you.

Read on to see if it’s worth the price…

Ab Coaster Review – How Does the Ab Coaster Work

When you do crunches you work the stomach from the top down, but it is also good and in fact more effective to work the abs from the bottom up. This is why so many people do hanging leg raises or at least try to.

Hanging leg raises are one of the hardest and most effective belly exercises. If you do it without a machine, you hang from a parallel bar with outstretched arms and bring your knees to your chest.

This is very hard on the upper body and makes it virtually impossible for most people to do as many repetitions as they would like. Your arms actually get tired before your stomach does.

There are some machines which let you do leg raises but most of them require you to lift yourself from the ground and to place your arms on pads which are often uncomfortable. In these machines, your upper body still does a lot of the work, and creates a lot of pressure on your lower back.

This is what the Ab Coaster system does: it helps you do leg raises without straining your upper body or putting pressure on your back.

The movement of the Ab Coaster system is an arc. Your knees come up to your chest in a natural crunching motion. This simulates the leg raises but isn’t as hard as traditional leg raises are. You can also do diagonal leg raises and work the obliques with the Ab Coaster.

However, can this really help you to burn off belly fat? Read on to see the truth…

How to you really lose belly fat

Many of the reviews of the Ab Coaster which I read were positive. People enjoy working with this machine and it does work the abs. It is also reported to be a well crafted machine which is sturdy and should last for a long time. This is something that I love about the AbCoaster.

However, the question is whether this machine alone can get you optimal results or is there a missing piece?

As this machine only works the abs it may not be enough to get perfect results. It can be a big help but you may be able to get better results by using additional things as well.

You can’t lose belly fat with stomach exercises because you can’t spot reduce fat with exercise. You lose fat from all over your body regardless of the body part you workout. This is just how our body works.

The Ab Coaster can help you get a good stomach workout which is a great thing, and it can help you simulate leg raises which is a great stomach exercise, but it can’t get you flat abs all on its own.

To really burn off belly fat and get flat abs you need to:

1. Do cardio workouts to burn off fat.

2. Do full body workouts to get more lean muscle tissue and boost your metabolism.

3. Eat right in order to stop gaining fat and help the body to burn it off faster.

The Ab Coaster does come with a meal plan but it doesn’t help you do cardio workouts and it doesn’t workout your entire body.

This doesn’t mean that it’s a bad machine. It’s a good toning machine for your abs but it’s not a complete solution for people who wish to get a perfect stomach. This doesn’t mean that the ab coaster is a scam. It’s a perfectly legitimate workout machine. It can help you to strengthen your abs but you may get better results by combining it with additional workouts and a healthy diet.

You need to know that this machine will not replace the gym as you will need to continue working our your arms, chest, back, and legs to get really lean. If you’re going to pay $250 for the Ab Coaster Home you have to know this.

Should You Buy the Ab Coaster – Is It Worth It?

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t get the Ab Coaster. If you continue reading this review you will see that it has a lot of pros. I just want you to have the full picture.

If you feel that having this machine at home will get you to workout more, then go ahead and buy the Ab Coaster.

However, realize that this machine is just part of the process to get flat abs. A small part. You will need to invest your time in a good nutrition, and total body workouts.

Pros and Cons of the Ab Coaster

Pros:

  • Sturdy and well built
  • Comfortable to work with
  • Has a 30 day trial offer
  • Works the abs well

Cons:

  • Expensive. Costs around $250 (plus shipping)
  • Has a short warranty period
  • Takes up a lot of room – dimensions: 51” Long x 25” Wide x 50” High
  • Does not replace the gym as some people think

My Verdict

If you have the room in your home and you’re looking for a stomach exercise machine, then the Ab Coaster is a good buy. It’s a bit expensive, so bear that in mind, but it can be worth it if its gets you to workout more.

The Ab Coaster isn’t a scam. However, if you think that it will get you flat and sexy abs on its own, it won’t. Only a complete lifestyle change with the right cardio and full body strength workout, and healthy nutrition will get you those abs you’re dreaming about.
